Stop Federal Funding of Planned Parenthood

Dear Friends,

I have just joined Concerned Women for America in calling on Congress to move to defund Planned Parenthood (PPH) -- the nation's largest abortion provider.

Recently, a House subcommittee headed by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Florida), has launched an investigation into the practices and activities of Planned Parenthood.  In a letter to PPH president Cecile Richards, he specifically asked her to substantiate how PPH spends the more than $363 million in federal and state funds.

Also in the letter, Stearns pointed out that federal funding indirectly helps PPH pay for abortions despite legal restrictions. He added, funding "should be evaluated" along with other expenses to reduce the deficit.

Stearns said he and others in Congress are concerned over PPH's "extensive record of violating state sexual assault and child abuse reporting laws, and of encouraging young girls to lie about their ages to circumvent state reporting laws."

American citizens are also wary of PPH's true intent.  Billing themselves as a "trusted non-profit health care provider," they performed 332,278 abortions in 2009, and referred for 977 adoptions -- a rate of one adoption referral for every 340 abortions .

And your tax-dollars are indirectly helping to make that possible.
